I'm Chojan Shang (PsiACE), an open source engineer based in Hangzhou, China. I work at the intersection of data infrastructure and generative AI.

Now

Senior Engineer @ OceanBase (Ant Group). I lead the development of AgentSeek, building database-native agent capabilities and open source tooling around the OceanBase ecosystem, and working with the community on upstream / downstream collaboration.

Before

GenAI Platform Engineer @ NebulaGraph (2024 – 2025). Owned the engineering of the NebulaGraph GenAI platform. Co-designed and shipped Fusion GraphRAG, reaching ~95% answer accuracy in selected scenarios and cutting time-to-first-answer by 80% over public baselines under the same compute.

Core Engineer @ Databend Labs (2021 – 2024). Founding team member of the cloud-native data warehouse Databend. Led major refactors, modular decomposition, compile-time performance work, and the first continuous benchmark. Drove integrations with HuggingFace, lakeFS, and KubeSphere across data lake and cloud-native scenarios. On the community side, grew GitHub stars from 800+ to 8000+ and served multiple years as the OSPP community liaison.

Open source

  • ASF Member. Committer / contributor to several Apache projects. Helped take Apache OpenDAL from incubation to graduation — now adopted at scale by LanceDB, Milvus, and others.
  • ACP Python SDK. Creator and maintainer of the Agent Client Protocol Python SDK, with around 10M monthly downloads and adoption in products from Kimi and Mistral.
  • bub. Core maintainer of an open source agent framework built for real-world multi-party collaboration.

Speaking & writing

I've spoken at ApacheCon Asia, PyCon China, Rust China Conf, and Kubernetes Community Days on data infrastructure and GenAI / Agent engineering.

Education

  • M.Sc., Applied Mathematics & Data Science, Macau University of Science and Technology (2022 – 2024) — learned caching, LLM applications.
  • B.Eng., Computer Science, Huazhong Agricultural University (2017 – 2021) — databases.

What I care about

Building trustworthy open source products that connect communities, users, and commercial teams — landing complex infrastructure in developer-friendly ways at global scale.
