2021 Annual Review - Life is not a struggle

Jan 1, 2022

It is called an annual review, but I am only writing a few hurried lines on the first night of 2022, just to leave a marker.

The primary keyword for 2021 was "work". I joined in July, and half a year has passed. I suppose I have become a workplace newcomer smoothly enough. Many thanks to @BohuTANG and Datafuse Labs for giving me the chance to experience a life of "full-time open source + remote work". I managed to collect quite a few commits on GitHub, and I still need to keep working hard.

Looking back at the first half of 2021, I almost only went back to campus for two thesis defenses. It really feels like I have been moving farther and farther away from campus life. In May, I had a fairly serious sprain and stayed in bed for almost a month. I still feel a bit resentful when I think about it. I wonder whether I will have a chance to study while working. Funny enough, I keep thinking about going back for another round of training.

In any case, 2021 is over. "Life is not a struggle." I hope I can make peace with life. In the new year, I should not be so greedy. I should do each thing well and put myself steadily into learning and work.

Also, I posted "go to bed early and get up early" many times yesterday, but still failed to do it :(
